If Robin In, Bale is Out

Star Pulse is reporting that Christian Bale restates that he’s off the franchise if his character’s sidekick Robin is introduced.

People are divided and as I’ve said on the post below that Dick Grayson, the original, can work if they don’t use the Robin aspect, and just focus on Bruce trying to train the young man with anger and bitterness, Grayson overcoming it but not understanding his father figure, he leaves to find his way to fight crime on his own.

    Dick Grayson as a Character

MTV’s Movie Blog interviewed Jeph Loeb about Dark Knight, which comes out soon, he brought up the topic of Robin being a very crucial character in the mythos.

Which is a little ironic, considering that one of Bale’s favorite Batman comics is “Dark Victory,” by fan-favorite creators Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. And who do you think appears as a critical character in “Dark Victory”? (Hint: He wears a red and yellow costume.)

So how do you reconcile the two disparate viewpoints?

“Take the time to tell the story properly,” Loeb told MTV News. “There is a story of Dick Grayson and how he becomes Robin that is extremely moving and very helpful.”

“It’s all about building the relationship between Bruce and Dick. Dick hates Bruce. He doesn’t understand why it is that he needs to do this and Bruce doesn’t understand why he’s doing it either because he’s not a parent. He doesn’t know how to be a parent,” Loeb said. “And together, they make each other better people. So that for me would be the next step.”

But for all the fans already crying out in horror just at the thought of it, Loeb isn’t actually talking so much about Robin as he is about Dick Grayson. In fact, the best Robin story might not actually have “Robin” at all.

I think for this to work in the franchise is for WB and Nolan setup his origin, focus on the father and son aspect, Richard yanking Bruce back from The Abyss, Bruce’s experience with this new goal, their rocky relationship which leads to Dick establishing himself as Nightwing in Teen Titans that is still in development.

    Plastique on Smallville

Kryptonsite has confirmed that the character in 8×02 “Plastique” is the villianious from the DC universe.

The second episode of the eighth season of Smallville, is called
Plastique. “Plastique” does indeed involve Bette Sans Souci, the character from
the DC Comics universe. In this version she is a “15 year old street kid” who is
injured in an explosion, and Chloe Sullivan (Clark Kent’s best friend) asks her
    to move in.

Knowing the character only from the JLU episode “Task Force X”, I did some research on Wiki, being a woman who flinged with Captain Atom to becoming a female Gambit.

Since this is Smallville they might give her the power to blow things up by the use of Kryptonite, one of the things I hate on the show.

The really screwed themselves last season by Bizarro falling for Lana, which breaks the concept of him being Clark’s opposite to Brainiac wanting to kill Kal-El on Krypton in the past that the time travel wasn’t explained at all.

    Justice Returns

TV Guide has revealed that not only Green Arrow will return to Smallville but the JLA as well.

Get ready for the return of the Justice League. When Smallville
comes back in September, the Super Friends reunite to search for Clark Kent, who
went missing in May’s season finale after tussling with Lex Luthor at the
    Fortress of Solitude.

One of the first things the new quartet did was lock in Justin
    Hartley
for at least 12 episodes as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen, a fan favorite
who appeared frequently in Season 6 and once last season. He’ll start this new
chapter by gathering Aquaman and Black Canary to rescue Clark.
    Alan
    Ritchson
    and Alaina
    Huffman
will reprise their roles, as will Phil
    Morris
, whose Martian Manhunter also appears in the opener, titled
    “Odyssey.”

This season’s theme is “double identities,” Souders says. “It’s about the
Superman identity emerging as Clark Kent tries to maintain a normal life — or
the appearance of a normal life.” To that end, he takes a job at the “Daily
Planet,” right across the desk from Lois Lane (Erica Durance).

THEY BETTER come up with a DAMN GOOD explanation as to Jonn Jonnz’s lack of appearence when Bizarro came back. But they’ll probably going to reveal in the season that he’s working with the league, The “Surprise” Twist if you will.
They better give Oliver and Dinah the screen time they derserve, not him and Lois, that would be a rehashing.
“Double Identites”, yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it, cause last season mostly it was smoke out of Clana’s asses.

    BAU on ITunes

I was going into the ITunes Store where I came across a little banner with Batman on it that said “DC Classic Animation“.

Volumes 1 & 2 of B:TAS have been added and Batman Beyond as well.

I’m still browsing to find which one to put on my Ipod, it might not work, but I don’t care.

    Quantum of Solace Teaser

The first trailer for the next James Bond has come out.

The physical stunts have been amplified. Hope the action still plays a part in the story like The free running and the fight down the stairs which were very well choreographed.

    Season 8 Premiere Title

Since we were not entirely impressed with the finale of Season 7, we have little hope that the last season isn’t worth it.

Kryptonsite has revealed that the premiere title will be called “Odyssey”.

The entire episode is nothing but a sequel to “Veritas” aka Girl Power, where the remaining characters try to find Clark and save the day. PreDICTABLE!

Now I can care less about the butchered Doomsday or another Death of Superman reference since that was used in Season 5. ReHASHED!
