Funny story, we stopped to get a drink and when we walked into theater, the trailer reached it’s action packed climax, even from that is movie looks awesome.
The opening, until you find out it’s Kirk, it didn’t feel like a Star Trek movie, which I also dug in the beginning of Casino Royale.
The preview confirms what we speculated on Kirk and Spock being at odds and the added bonus with The Captain of The Enterprise shagging with Zoe Saldana as Uhura? Wow. She can moondance any time of night. Lastly I could tell it was Eric Bana through the make up.
Chris of Blinky Productions released his Man Without Fear film.
It was done well, the acting was fine, but Damien Colletti, who played Bullseye, should slow down when saying his lines, the Frank Miller momentum kind of stumbled after he says the magic quote, but the famous stabbing scene was done much better then what Mark Steven Johnson did, it’s amazing how affective a movie can be on a minimum budget.
Just a suggestion, to play up more comic book elements, some green fabric on the D’s could make the insignia stand out more in shadows. But still good overall.
I’ve said to Rob after a TV spot aired, I’m still going to see it regardless on whether it’s good or bad.
Looking at this image of Jigsaw and having seen another spot of Dominic West talking in a generic mobster voice, fears are creeping up behind me that it’s going to be another Ghost Rider disaster or even worse, Batman & Robin. Don’t know what I was thinking seeing that Nick Cage abortion.
Definitely dig the make up, it’s like the billionaire victim in Hannibal came out of a bad acid trip. Well having your face mutilated by a meat grinder can really mess you up psychologically. But…YIKES. What the hell is up with his wardrobe? It’s like West robbed one of Tommy Lee Jones’ outfits from Batman Forever. If it was one of those silk suits from Rush Hour 2 I’d be sold, but this is ridiculous.
While searching the net for stuff to talk about for the site, I came across this on forums. Lobster Charlie of YouTube made this.
Good Editing, the useage of “Counting Bodies” by Perfect Circle. On Bison’s close up, Micheal Ironside is the embodiment of evil, the one and only Darkseid, Lord of Apocolypse.
Most of the actors in this trailer, are either too old or just dead. Liked the footage from The Quest. There lacked displays of power, especially on Blanka’s electricity effect. To translate to live action, it has to appear less cartoonie and bright.
Chun Li can be done, the Kill Bill franchise was the only exception of a well done revenge flick and last night Rob and I were watching Enter the Dragon, it’s all about vengence to which Mortal Kombat totally stole the story from. Where each fighter had an agenda and things to lose. Ruper with his money and Lee killing Oharra, who was nothing after his character setup.
Like Ninja Turtles, if they decided to go dark and live action, should just go Grindhouse on it, full blown blood and violence, which I admit, lacked in the first MK.
But overall, the realities are no matter how great the visuals are, it always boils down to story and characters. In the case of video game movies, there’s just not enough material to go on, adding, subtracting elements, or just staying straight forward just doesn’t cut it with anyone on this dead genre.
Marvel Studios has announced that The Wolfman director, Joe Johnston has snagged the job of bringing the Star Spangled Avenger to the big screen.
Johnston is currently directing The Wolfman, which hits theaters on April 3. He is developing The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.
Johnston previously directed October Sky, Jumanji, Jurassic Park III, The Rocketeer and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Johnston won an Academy Award® in 1982 for Best Visual Effects for Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Jurassic Park III not withstanding aside, Johnston has an impressive resmay, but will see how Wolfman goes, if it succeeds I’m all for it, if it fails, then skepticism will be on horizon.
