    IM2 Poster & Images

Yahoo released the first teaser image for Marvel Studios’ last year’s big success with the first look at Rhody’s alter ego and new stills from the film aswell.

    Spot on.

Butterfingers helping Stark cleaning up the mess after Dummy falls through the floor. But seriously probably after the first encounter with Natasha Romanov.

On first glance I thought it was the Proton Canon, but Favereau might save that big gun for a third with Mandarin.

    JSA Stills

More images from EW for Smallville’s only high point of this season with a better view of Doctor Fate and a first look at Stargirl.

Courtney Whitmore is accurate but the brightness of the blue, I can’t help it reminding me of American Dream of Marvel. Plus, the thing I’ve noticed as another case of the budget, Nelson’s costume is Green Arrow’s “Superman” outfit from Identity last season.

With their two hours, they do have plenty of time to develop Carter Hall and Oliver Queen’s rocky relationship. Unless the producers miss another opportunity to waste on minor things.

    Absolute Justice Glimpse

Tonight’s episode did nothing for me because I don’t care about this season’s story arc. However, this preview featuring scenes from the upcoming JSA event was worth it.

The first look at Doctor Fate is exactly accurate to the comics as Geoff Johns said on his Twitter page. Surprise appearance of Sandman, Alan Scott’s lantern ring and the team portrait (like the Last Supper) was just awesome. Can it come any sooner?

Funny how the episode is named after the collected maxiseries by Alex Ross and Jim Krueger.

    Kahn for Trek Sequel?

JJ Abrams in a recent interview said there still is no script for the follow up to Star Trek which recently came out on DVD.

Rumor on Coming Soon.net has the genetically engineered tyrant of the Eugenics Wars ready to make a comeback.

Who do they think could portray the character made famous by Ricardo Montalban
in the 1967 “Star Trek” episode “Space Seed” and 1982 feature Star Trek: The
    Wrath of Khan?

Nestor Carbonell, who plays Richard Alpert on the J.J.
    Abrams-executive produced ABC series “Lost.”

Batmanuel from the short live action Tick and the mayor in Dark Knight? Nestor does resemble Montalban, I’ll give him that, but I don’t think he can pull off a surprise act like Chris Pine did in the first film.

In my opinion, Noonien Sigh is the arch enemy of Kirk just as The Joker is to Batman. You have the natural born leader against the artificially-created leader.

But it seems more likely the Klingon Empire will make their reappearance first due to the deleted scene on the prison planet shown here:

The decision to make them like orcs as opposed to barbarians is a step in the right direction as far as reimagining goes.

First Look at Hawkman & JSA Update

TV Guide gives us a glimpse of the reincarnated warrior in the upcoming movie special Absolute Justice, now airing on February 5th.

Going off the photo, this looks cheap, even for Smallville’s budget. Costs have been used in the past as an excuse for poor special effects. However the episodes’ lighting and angles might make it look better.

An interview with the actor portraying Hawkman, Michael Shanks, hints at what’s in store:

    How’s your flying been going?

Today’s my practice day. There’s no stunt guy, so I need to ace this so I don’t make Hawkman look like a goofball. It’s traditional wire work that involves strapping on this harness so that large men with giant arms can lift me up and manipulate me. I’m also swinging around Hawkman’s giant mace as a weapon.

What advice does he give Clark?

There’s a reference given to him flying, but it’s more of a metaphor to his own personal growth. Clark and his friends are figuring out what their destinies will be, so there is a ripe opportunity for the Justice Society who had been there done that to offer some tough love teaching.

Have the regular Smallville characters heard about the Society members?

No. That’s a big plot point to find out how come they’ve never heard of these people.

Is there a glimmer of hope offered that the Society could reassemble?

There will be a debate going on about whether we should have formed in the first place, and whether anyone should do it. We came together for the benefit of mankind, but then we were treated appallingly, so there will be a debate as to whether it would make sense for the Justice League to pick up our mantle and do it again.

Hawkman is just another case of every other character’s ability to fly EXCEPT Superman. I’m hoping the advise urges Clark to take on more of a leadership roll, as hinted in other interviews. And hopefully somebody suggests he become a little brighter and inject some color into his costume.

I’m glad they’re addressing why no one has ever heard of the Justice Society. I knew Geoff Johns would address the issue, because he’s an actual, competent writer.

No hints about who the villain will be, unless it’s just Amanda Waller. Speculation has it being a JSA villain, but no thoughts on which one.

    Smallville "Pandora" Images

Stills for episode 9 came out.

Because the solar tower works and unleashes the effects of the red sun, Clark goes back to way he looked in the season 8 premiere, “Odyssey”.

While it’s nice that the Kryptonian soldier forces Kal-El to Kneel Before Zod, look to the left and you’ll see that Mercy has become one of his minions as Lois’ visions foretold.

Oh yay, it’s The Chloe Squad. What will they to do wrong with their ends justifies the means attitude?

    Batman Beyond Returns

I know there was a comic tie in during the time the show was on air, but according to Newsarama, DC Executive Editor Dan Didio announced a new one starring The Dark Knight of the future.

“There will be a Terry McGinnis mini-series early next year. We’ve heard the fans, we’ve heard everyone’s interest. And right now we’re planning to put out a Batman Beyond mini-series in 2010.”

This world created by Bruce Timm and company has the potential to be a really good ongoing series.

Terry’s rogues gallery is nearly on par with Bruce Wayne’s. From his father’s murderer-turned-radiated-nemesis Blight, the sound-bender Shriek, shape shifting Inque, Society of Assassins’ top ninja Curaré, cyborg Stalker, to name a few. They also managed to bring back a few classics like Bane, Mr. Freeze and The Joker.

If they go by the same formula, maybe we’ll see Poison Ivy (plants can live a long time).
