    "Traveler" Trailer

The preview for 7×14, “Traveler” that aired at the end of “Strenchy-Man”.

Sweet. I still don’t think Lionel is the one that captures Clark, Brainiac could trick Kal-El again like he did in “Persona”.

The Last Days of Krypton Review

While running the site, reporting news, and the last two months, tonight I finished listening to the audiobook version of “The Last Days of Krypton” by Kevin J. Anderson.

I don’t read novels, the previous audiobook I bought was Superman Returns on CD, didn’t like it, cause it goes way too far in depth with everything and everyone, it got extremely boring.

Initial thought about this, it really comes through. As always, like Rob and I review Smallville episodes, movies, and comics, I’ll start with The Good.

It goes in depth with it’s main characters, Jor-El meeting Lara, Zod’s journey, and the climatic global civil war that was addressed in Season 7 of the Smallville TV series.

The arrival of an alien that sets the motions for the Kryptonians to take action from their law imposed exile.

Backstories for Zod’s disciples, Nam-Ek/Non and Aethyr/Ursa are created and their well done.

While Brainiac wasn’t the artifical intelligence on the planet, they use The Brain Interactive Contruct fraze, he’s was from his home planet that shrinks the city of Kandor like in the comics, but they humanize the villain to a degree. Thank Rao there was no monkey.

What I’d liked was Zod basically ruling the world, with a statue and portrait of himself, it’s great to hear for the amount of time that he has power.

The Gripes were that it does get boring in parts, like long descriptions of people doing this and that, I zone out, that just me not being use to this type of writing.

Lara’s backstory of her being an artist was kind of erksume, my brother came up with a stronger role for her character.

Another thing that Erked me was like the Bryan Singer film, it crams a little too much Superman references, most annoyling was Kryptopolis, come on, Kevin, you could’ve come up with a better name for a Kryptonian city then that.

And lastly The Rating, is this the quintessial story of the doomed planet of Krypton? Not really, but for what it is, it’s good.

    I give it a 8 1/2.

The Incredible Hulk Trailer has Landed

The trailer for The Incredible Hulk has arrived online.

Overall Incredibly full of awsomeness. The CGI is more convining then Ang Lee’s film. This movie is being more true to the source material.

My critique is minor, the actors came across as themselves and not the characters their playing, but I’ll hold judgement until more comes out down the line before June 13th.

"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!" Remade?!

According to Yahoo, that Hollywood is interested in remaking another franchise from my youth, The Killer Tomatoes.

Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine, creators of the hit Web series “Ask a
Ninja,” are writing an adaptation of the 1978 opus, with Nichols set to make his
directorial debut. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! is the masterwork of a
generation,” Nichols said. “We can only aspire to recapture that magic.” No
changes to the original plot have been revealed, but it still is expected to
revolve around genetically altered tomatoes on the warpath.

Having only known those guys from that web series I don’t see them doing this particular remake.
Nothing against it, I’ve seen the movies when I was little, and watched the 90’s cartoon, I just don’t see the concept working for audiences of this generation.
Then again I shouldn’t be suprised, Hollywood will remake and milk franchises for all their worth until the end of time.

    Rocketeer Artist Passed Away

News from a comic book blog called The Bust, has come out that the artist of a superhero from childhood, The Rocketeer has passed away.

Stevens was known for his meticulous artwork, reminiscent of the greatest
illustrators of the past and the whiz bang pulpishness of the 30s and 40s. He
was, of course, also obsessed with model Bettie Page. These came together in The
Rocketeer, which was published by Eclipse, Pacific, Comico and Dark Horse in its
various incarnations. In 1991 it was turned into a Disney film starring Billy
Campbell and a young Jennifer Connelly. The film underperformed at the time but
    has become very fondly remembered.

My view on that subject of underperforming is the problem with making movies about heroes from that particular time period is the majority of modern audiences can’t relate.
As my opinions go on the matter, I think The Rocketeer and The Shadow are kick ass.
    But anyway R.I.P. Mr. Stevens.

    Singer on Superman Sequel

It’s been long time since we heard anything moving forward news about the next Superman film, Bryan Singer has finally come out to talk to Empire.

“Singer knows that there was some negative reaction to the fact that the
first film focused more on story at the expense of action and is looking to
    redress that next time.

“The first one was a romantic film and a nostalgic film,” he says. “I’ll be the
first person to own up to that without making any apologies for it. I knew
    it
was going to be that from the outset. And now that the characters are
established, there’s really an opportunity to up the threat levels…Clearly
there’ll be a body count [laughs]. From frame one, it will be unrelenting
terror! All those teenage girls who found the movie and mooned over James
Marsden or Brandon? Well, I’m going to wake them up!” He may be joking about
    the
    unrelenting terror.

Singer sounds like he’s not taking the matter seriously. All of us here were underimpressed with Superman Returns, while it did have highlights, The Plane Sequence, Luthor kicking the shit out The Man of Steel, the overall film was weak, it was like a baby that couldn’t stand on it’s on two feet which had to be fed by the nostalgia of it’s parent, and when things didn’t work it through a temper tantrum.

What I think should happen, is probably everyone else is just revamp like what Marvel is doing with The Hulk, which the preview airs tommorrow, it’s gonna rule.

As far as big baddie, the answer should be friggin obivous, BRAINIAC, not the mad scientist with his monkey version, the A.I. of Kal-El’s birth planet that was originally created by Alan Burnett on Superman: The Animated Series and later used in Smallville.
