    “Descent” Review

As I’ve hinted at the previous Smallville posts that last night’s episode “Descent” was friggin awsome, best episode of the season, and a true touchstone for the series, more so then “Reckoning”.

The teaser, with the final confrontation/meeting between father and son, last speech of history, to Lex pulling a gun on Lionel to get the last key to find the Veritas box, which holds the key to controling The Traveler aka Kal-El/Clark.

Then the line from Lex, but not the “I’m raised in your shadow now you die in mine.” but before Lex Luthor lets him go, “No one will ever know your name.”, then Lionel is street pizza on the steps of Luthor…LexCorp.

The opening scene where almost everyone from The Daily Planet, Clark, Chloe, Lois, and Jimmy run out to the Luthor building across the street. Luthor plays up grief and identifies the body to the Metropolis PD. In his state mind of what is happening, Alexander from “Fracture” and “Veritas” appears to him that he can’t believe that he did it. Clark and Lex make a slow eye contact then leaves. Chloe says a bad remark about that does it matter that if the key that Lionel was trying to give to Clark when he was hotheaded, comitting suicide that everyone is starting to quickly assume. Thanks to the kine eye of Jimmy Oslen sees a glimpse where Lionel fell out the window when he took a picture of Lois for some reason. Maybe after he was checking the boobies from the previous episode and then whispering to Lois, that he’s developing a crush on her? Had to be asked, that’s all I’m saying.

At The Luthor Manison Lex tells his secretary, Gina, not Mercy, about his treasured moment with his father, and that he didn’t find the key. When she leaves Alexander appears again to scream at him, then Lex throws his mug at the fireplace which causes to ignite.

Lex you’re going to hell, boooooooyyyyy.

After that Clark is standing in the crime scene, where he finds a Kryptonian flashlight basically in Lionel’s vault, with a message for him about that he thought he was better then everyone until he met Clark, that his greatest gift was protecting The Last Son of Krypton. Which proved all along that if though he did questionable things that were still out of character and not done suttle, his life trully did change when he became Jor-El’s emisssary, that he was grateful. He goes on to say that he must find the key before Lex does, which is revealed that he entrusted to Chloe to give to Clark, but Lex finds it in her desk drawer, and fires her.

Gina then discovers Jimmy’s photo and Lois and him are held hostage, and goes Psycho of the Week, but Lois tries to get the upperhand but she gets shot.

“YOU SHOT ME! YOU SHOT ME RIGHT IN THE ARM! WHY ARE YOU…(Gun shot) – Mustafa, Austin Powers.

So they end up locked in a freezer and Clark saves the day with a new method. Heat Vison Warmth, FOR ONLY 19.95.

But the highpoint came when Clark confronts Lex, and Michael Rosenbaum delivers his best acting chops as his goes from Lex from Smallville to Lex Luthor of the Superman lore, and Tom Welling let’s out his Supermanism to counter balance. Trully one the most memorable scenes in the series, so far.

The evidence is ultimately destroyed, letting Lex getting away with murder, scott free, as Luthor’s schemes always are, Gina gets killed supposedly by Lex who was the only person that knew the secret, not just Clark’s but his as well.

Alexander warns himself for the last time, not to go through his agenda for the rest of the season, but Luthor says cold heartedly “I’M DONE LISTENING TO YOU! YOU HAVE MADE ME WEAK!” drags Alex down the stairs of the balcony and kills him the fire. True evil at it’s creepiest.

At The Kent Farm, Clark and Chloe talk about how each man, fathers and mentor helped shape Clark Kent into the man he is now and the hero he will utimately become by the end of the final season.

The ending scene where mortal enemies meet face to face at a solitary funeral for Luthor, which was brillant as the photos that were released before this aired. Lex smirks and walks away, while Kent drops dirt on the caskett as a sign of respect. End of the episode.

As I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, HOLY SHIT! THAT WAS THE BEST EPISODE EVER! There might be some minor gripes or negetives when Rob and I record our show for this week, I’m giving this a perfect 10 out of 10.

Can’t wait for the remainder of Season 7.

    The Goblin is In

Kids WB has posted the next villian to appear in The Spectacular Spider-Man, Norman Osborn’s psychotic alter ego, The Green Goblin.

I’ve come to realise that this series is a modern verison of the 60’s era of the Webhead with villians of the 80’s like Eddie Brock, who’ll surely become Venom very soon.

Last week’s episode with Sandman was really good, Aunt May, who’s more of the mother figure, cancels Peter’s chances of going to The Prom with Betty Brant to go with Mary Jane Watson, who was introduced like in her first appearence and the 90’s cartoon, with the famous “Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot.”

As villains go, The Goblin has to be one of my favorite Spidey baddies aside Venom. I don’t care much for the others like Hobgoblin or Demogoblin.

In my youth I created one called Shadowgoblin, who was like Demogoblin and personality wise be The Joker on a glider. Ridiculous, I know.

    Wonder Woman Lives

IESB interviewed Joel Silver at Long Beach, (great place, great weather) who was there to promote Speed Racer about any future Wonder Woman flick.

No, this new script will not be set in WW II like the spec script these
guys drew up instead a whole new storyline and setting are currently being
    developed.

Originally shying away from an “origin” or genesis story for the
superwoman, Silver has reconsidered and says they are really looking into a
story involving Paradise Island and her background.

I think it should be played out like her character was going through in New Frontier, who’s unsure how to adapt from being an ambassador of her homeland to being a superherorine, who’s on par with Superman.
As far as casting, I think they missed on few good actresses Catherine Zeta Jones/Douglas or Kate Backinsale. But the inspiring choice would have to be Jennifer Connelly.

    Joe Profiles

A source has released images for another movie related podcast, profiles of the G.I. Joe’s and Cobra characters for the upcoming movie.

The notable ones being Duke and Storm Shadow.

Storm Shadow, not the same as the source, but I think they desired to have him look different then Snake Eyes. But it would’ve hurt for him to have a Scorpion hood. The lady next to him, is probably Baroness without her glasses, weird. Maybe it’s at the end where her and Scarlett cat-fight and she breaks them, like in the first Matrix: “I’m gonna enjoy watching you die. BITCH!”

As Duke is concerned, it not Duke, to comment on the others that are not in this post, Dennis Quaid’s Stephen Hawk character comes across as the other. But I’m speculated that Hawk is the leader/mentor, then the master dies, and then the student picks up the mantle. It would’ve been fine if he wore a brown leather jacket at least, then just another black body suit. Weird, cause Arnold Schwarzenengger in Predator is more Duke to me.

    Limited HB2 Poster

CHUD has released a limited poster for Hellboy 2.

Out the posters from this franchise, I have to say that this is my favorite. It’s expressive, ominous, and apocalyptic. Very Mignola-esc.

    DC v.s….Mortal Kombat?

They have announced a new versus game with the DC characters featured, but not against it’s competiton, there taking the fight on the streets with another video game franchise.

A trailer was also released following the announcement.

MK/DC. Really? It’s an odd concept, much like Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy meeting Disney. I really don’t think this is a smart move and that this is not gonna fly in sales.

The offical site is also online, which you find by clicking here.

    “Quest/Arctic” Trailer!

After the best episode in Smallville history, The CW showed a trailer for the last two episodes of the season.

“Descent” was so fuckin awsome, I can’t wait for the rest and the last season, where Clark takes the final step to becoming The Man of Steel.

This isn’t a preview for “Sleeper”, a another filler, but a breather after what happened tonight.

    "Quest" Offical Description

The CW has released the description for 7×19 before the finale airs, “Quest”.

CLARK MEETS THE LAST MEMBER OF VERITAS — Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is attacked by
a cloaked stranger who carves kryptonian symbols into his chest – a message for
Clark (Tom Welling). Chloe (Allison Mack) and Clark investigate and discover one
member of the Veritas clan has survived and is hiding in a church. Clark and Lex
race to be the first to find this mysterious Veritas member, who holds the key
to Clark’s survival. Kristin Kreuk, Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore and Laura
Vandervoort also star. Ken Biller directed the episode written by Holly Harold.

This sounds like another filler episode before the finale. Once again Lex is kidnapped, and it’s up to Clark and Chloe to find him.

But it seems Lex won’t be captive for long, but I think Lex is going to get this “cloaked stranger” first, get the information, and despose of him, so one else can find out.

    First Look at Scarlett

With the debut of Ray Park of Snake Eyes, Paramount has released a glimise of Rachel Nichols as Scarlett of G.I. Joe.

She does have Scarlett’s weapon of choice, but is it just me or is she coming across Natasha Romanoff/The Black Widowish.
The outfit of the source material is not much to go on, a yellow bikini basically with blue spandex.
