    Rodriguez’s Red Sonja – UPDATE

How to this slip my mind? Coming Soon is reporting that Robert Rodrguiez is signed on to direct a Red Sonja movie with smokin hottie Rose McGowan in the title role.

All can think is AWSOME! McGowan as Cherry was great. She had humor, attitude, and strong heroine all rolled into one.
Normally I won’t care about female lead movies, but in the case of Sonja, Robert has no problem with showing big action, nudity, and violence.

    UPDATE – 7/2/08:
Cinematical is reporting that Rose and Rodrguiez’s romantic relationship came to an end. So that just leaves the question on what does it mean to Red Sonja.
I would like to assume that it was an understable break up not the “mouthing off” at each other.

I for one would be glad if they ditched Rose as lead for Red Sonja. Red Sonja is not a delicate, frail flower. That, or buff up Rose and send her to the gym for real muscle.

    Trek Footage Description

Harry of AICN gives a description of footage that was shown to him by J.J. Abrams for his rebooted Star Trek flick.

The replies I’ve read seem to be skeptical about this news, mainly towards Abrams directing.

Me, I’m skeptical too cause he wrote Mission Impossible 3, if I’m not mistaken. But I’m confident he can do big space battle action sequences.

The other side of the concerns that Harry seems to have is the actors playing the iconic characters from the original series. My interpetation of that he’s a little apprehensive about the redo, who wouldn’t, but he sums it up pretty postively.

    Punisher: War Zone Posters

Getty Images have shown two new posters for the next Punisher movie.

The posters are great, don’t get me wrong, but since Marvel Studios have nailed it with Iron Man and Hulk that I’m not antispating any other studio that makes a comic book movie like the trailer and Wanted is deviated action flick.

    Carlin Passes

I heard about this on vacation that famous stand up comedian, George Carlin has passed away.

Another great talent his passed on, only recently seen some of his stand up, he will always be remembered to me as Mr. Conductor from Shining Time Station, but importantly as Rufus from the Bill and Ted movies.
    R.I.P. Mr. Carlin.
    “Be excellent to each other.”

    G.I.Joe Posters

Film1.nl has posted two new posters of Snake Eyes and Baroness from the live action G.I.Joe film.

That’s as close to the iconography as you can possibly get.

Last time I commented about the image of Baroness, I said it was good to see her in the glasses, but now I have to call into question that they look just like shades.

Still can’t to see Snake Eyes in action. TRAILER COME RIGHT NOW!

    Gotham Tonight

Having finished watching them, to catch myself up on the news I missed from the below post, Warners’ latest viral for TDK, Gotham Tonight with host Anthony Micheal Hall talking about what’s happening in the city.
I have to say right up front that this is so DAMN BRILLANT. Since the first two I Believe in Harvey Dent and Why So Serious, since I didn’t care for the others, have I’ve been this interested.

Not only that but Comcast is distributing them, despite the fact that it sucks now.

    Shellhead’s Gross

According to The Hollywood Reporter that Iron Man has grossed 300 million at the box office on Wednesday.

That doesn’t look well for Hulk to reach that much money. As we’ve said on our review that Shellhead reset the startards of comic book films that even the big green guy couldn’t live up to it’s predecessor.
