    “Bulletproof” Trailer

“Legion” was an exciting episode. At the same time brings up questions for debate and fears lingering in the back of people’s minds including my own about the future of the season.

This preview was vague, but next week’s includes Dan Turpin’s introduction and John Jones’ near death experience.

    Push Clip

    [youtube.com=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPAoy3UMh_Y]

Chris Evans is one of my favorite actors since Cellular and had the best chemistry with Micheal Chiklis in the F4 franchise.

But while my brother is going to see it at the theater, I differ. In tone, it’s very similar to Jumper. The telekinetic effects are (as other people pointed out) like Heroes. Plus the CG guns do look cheap. I’d say it’s a rental.

    Kahn’s Wrath Ends

Another sudden passing of another acting legend.

Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV’s “Fantasy Island,” died Wednesday morning at his home, his family said. He was 88. Montalban’s death was first announced at a city council meeting by president Eric Garcetti, who represents the district where the actor lived. He died “from complications of advancing age,” his son-in-law, Gilbert Smith, later said.

More recently, he appeared as villains in two hits of the 1980s: “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” and – in line with his always-apparent sense of humor about himself – the farcical “The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad.”

R.I.P. Montalban. You will forever be remembered as The Greatest Villain of The Final Frontier.

    Podcast Returning This Week

As a sign of the new year, my computer finally crashed. Until I get another one, I’ll be posting on Rob’s Mac.

Our first attempt on Episode 52 was a cluster fuck. So having taken two months in a half break, we’ll start the third season off right.

    Smallville "Legion" Director’s Cut

Next week being Smallville’s return, The CW has released a clip.

The Brainiac symbol and The Legion of Superheroes’ introduction. AWSOME. But Alexz Johnson held her hand to her temple like it was glued on. I understand Chloiac threw the physic force back at her, it’s a very small nitpick.

But if The Legion are going to fight Brainiac, then what role does The Persuader fit into? Plus Doomsday/Davis appearing aswell. It’s alot for one episode, just can’t be done due to CW’s commercial time. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Good point about the congestion of the episode. The show’s new direction has finally given us a ton of scenarios all building up at one time and what hasn’t built up has left us a slew of things available to follow. I think the inclusion all these characters could really help the show sell to other audience’s, but I also agree it’s going to be difficult with commercials, etc. (But hey that’s what a good writer’s for, right?) I miss long action sequences with a whole lot or Clark kicking butt. We’ve yet to actually see a whole team really fighting together and certainly not against a huge group of villains or equals. So much to tackle…so little time!

    Superbowl Spots

Variety reports on Hollywood’s advertising films for this year’s game.

Confirmed for this year’s roster are high-profile titles like Paramount’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Star Trek” and “G.I. Joe”; Sony’s “Angels and Demons”; DreamWorks Animation’s “Monsters vs. Aliens”; and Universal’s “Land of the Lost” and its fourth installment in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. Disney is also planning to use the game to raise the profile for Pixar’s next toon, “Up.”

It goes on to say about whether Wolverine will be present is up in the air. But more Star Trek, first glimpses of Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe? Sweet. Really interested in Monsters vs. Aliens. But don’t care about Angels & Demons cause of last year’s bad word of mouth on Divine Code or Will Farrell’s cheap buck, Land of the Lost.

    Green Lantern #36

While the last issue of Batman didn’t do much for me, The Red Lantern storyline is getting more interesting.

Picks up where Final Crisis left off, a member of The Blue Lanterns save Hal Jordon on low power and the corps from survivng members of Sinestro’s team. Writer, Geoff Johns shows how godlike the Blue Corps are by healing John Stewart’s rage infection to jumpstarting a sun by sending it through time.

At first Hal sees no point to saving the sentenced supervillian from Atrocitus’ way of execution. Ganthet says to Jordon that since he’s mastered courage and fear, gone through hell as Parallax and came out the other during Rebirth that it’s time for him to move up to Blue Lantern status, which is gonna happen very soon.

It’s still too early in the series, but this looks to be another great chapter in GL mythology.

    Mickey Rouke as Crimson Dynamo?

The report came from Variety. The original Dynamo was Russian, it couldn’t be anyone else.

Rourke is in discussions to play a villain described as Tony Stark’s Russian alter ego, a heavily tattooed bruiser who is in the arms trade and battles Iron Man in his own nuclear-powered armored suit. Actor Sam Rockwell is in negotiations to play another villian in the pic.

Sounds like there changing some aspects for Rouke’s stature as the character was a scientist as opposed a brute.

As Rob and I don’t think The Mandarian will appear of Favreau saving it for a third. The other villain I can think of is Justin Hammer, a business rival of the Stark family.

    Season 9 is Possible

The piece of Smallville news that’s not about an episode. From Ask Ausiello.

Question: Any news as to whether Tom Welling has signed on for another
    season of Smallville?

ScarlettAusiello: Yes, there’s news, and it’s good. Some would even call it, ahem, super. According to a well-placed Smallville insider, Welling is nearing a deal to return for a ninth season. I’m told they’re just ironing out some minor deal points, such as should the Brinks Truck pull into the actor’s driveway, or just unload on the street.

I’m still holding judgement until next week if the second half of this good season holds up. If so then I’m all for it. If not, then the next season better be it’s last.
