    Smallville 8×17 to 19 Preview

Last night’s episode, while having it’s moments like Clark changing into his “costume” and more Doomsday goodness, overall it was still filler.

The rest of the season looks promising with Zatanna next week. Davis is clearly in the Kryptonite cage from last season. He probably tries to commit suicide but to no avail.

    Blinky’s Dark Knight Fan Film

Chris Notarile gives us a take of Harley Quinn, if she were to appear in a third Batman film. Which is seems unlikely weither or not Nolan wants The Joker continued in future installments without Ledger is still up in the air.

The meeting should be the equivalent to Clarice confronting Hannibal Lecter for the first time. The progression of Quinzel’s character was done well. Nice reference to Mad Love from The Animated Series, but Notarile’s acting was a little rocky.

I don’t know, I’ve found it painfully embarrassing to watch anyone try and do a joker impression. Seems like the entire premise for their acting is based on he acted in the interrogation scene alone. The role was really more diverse than that, deeper voice at times, and more confidence in his speech all around. All the impressions I’ve seen were too drawn out and silly. I guess that’s why there’s still so my hype with Heath. Unusual role to master.

    Beauty Tames The Beast!?

While they have to keep Chloe from finding out about Davis’ true nature until the end of the season I understand, but this? Plus Jimmy not acting like himself is a little erksome, cause in the previous seasons having the future pal to Superman be jealous of his alter ego for having relations with Chloe dragged out for too long was ridiculous.

    Superman: Brainiac

For a Man of Steel story, it’s a decent read through, but follows too much of the same elements from previous interpretations. Pa Kent dies of a heart attack once again. The guy can’t catch a break in the mythos.

I figured Geoff Johns was portraying Brainiac as he is in the DCAU. While he goes through the absorb and destroy routine, he still has aspects of the silver age version. Like his pet monkey, Koko, and shrinking cities.

At first Gary Frank’s art on The Big Blue Boyscout’s torso on the cover, was a little offputing. Besides that minor thing, facial features in the book at key points mimics Christopher Reeve very well.

The first scene with Clark Kent at the Daily Planet, his business suit he’s wearing reflects the costume. That just gives away his identity right there. Bad coloring there, Brad Anderson.

Some nitpicks I have to mention. Having Matrix pods and the wires in the head is fine but the one that goes in the mouth is too blatant. Another thing is Supes’ uniform never gets ripped or torn. It makes him too powerful, as the one in John Byrnes’ run got damaged. Also prefer Lois Lane as a brunette then dark haired.

Despite all that, it’s a joy to see Kal-El vent his anger out on his second biggest enemy by beating him by death. The story sets groundwork for the New Krypton arc right now and still worth a pickup.

    "Turbulence" aka Flight Teaser

Last night’s episode was decent enough after coming back after that bad case of DQ we had in November last year.

Clark is not gonna fly as TV shows have proven time and again that they’re the biggest misleaders in the world. Resorting to just land on the ground with his feet.

    Luthor Rips Into Superman

Putting the hilariousness of dissing Singer and Sidney J. Furie films’ stupidity chain of events with a Donner punchline aside, if they had to recast Kevin Spacy for the new movie, I could see Jon Hamm as a candidate. He definitely has humor, wit, and a presence onscreen.
