Batman Beyond Returns

I know there was a comic tie in during the time the show was on air, but according to Newsarama, DC Executive Editor Dan Didio announced a new one starring The Dark Knight of the future.

“There will be a Terry McGinnis mini-series early next year. We’ve heard the fans, we’ve heard everyone’s interest. And right now we’re planning to put out a Batman Beyond mini-series in 2010.”

This world created by Bruce Timm and company has the potential to be a really good ongoing series.

Terry’s rogues gallery is nearly on par with Bruce Wayne’s. From his father’s murderer-turned-radiated-nemesis Blight, the sound-bender Shriek, shape shifting Inque, Society of Assassins’ top ninja Curaré, cyborg Stalker, to name a few. They also managed to bring back a few classics like Bane, Mr. Freeze and The Joker.

If they go by the same formula, maybe we’ll see Poison Ivy (plants can live a long time).
