District 9 Review

After the Halo fiasco last year, I thought Peter Jackson was just making another movie out to make a quick buck with his director, Neil Blomkamp. But to eat crow, this was a good film.
The beginning, part of the middle, and the end is done in the style of a documentary with some news coverage that tells the story of aliens on Earth. But instead the typical contacting with messeges of peace or war, we have them confined to our planet, never to return to their own world.
Of course this causes riotting, protesting, and Wikus van de Merwe, field operator for the evil Multinational United organization getting the worst case of bad day that you can possibly imagine. Also his life sucks, married to the boss’ daughter who hates his guts aswell as his fellow employees.
Once the robot suit came into the fray by the climax, I instantly thought this would’ve been awsome japanese cartoon. Done by the BMC Funhouse crew behind Vampire Hunter D of course. Unfornately it suffers the severe case of fast editing and shaky camera that I’ve ever seen. But despite that I honestly enjoyed it.
