Batman: Battle for The Cowl #1


The big event from DC has arrived. At first the visual storytelling threw me off in the beginning at first where Tim Drake supposedly gets shot. But I realized it was displaying his inner monologue about “Flight Hysteria”.

Dick Grayson shuts everyone out as he struggles whether or not to put on the costume. But Drake says they have to do something before a mysterious wannabe who apprehended some clowns during a robbery destroys Bruce Wayne’s reputation. Resulting in Drake donning the Neal Adams era uniform to pursue the pretender on his own with Oracle’s group, Network being occupied with keeping Gotham under control.

In subplots, Black Mask blows up Arkham ala Bane in Knightfall and forces the inmates to work for him due to chemical implants whichs causes instant death. My problem with that is Poison Ivy is among them aswell. Isn’t she supposed to be immune to toxins and things like that?

Damien takes the Batmobile for a spin with a date, but Barbara puts a stop to it, ejects the girl out of the car, and programs the car to go back to The Cave. But run into Croc and Ivy. Nightwing rescues Talia’s son on a Bat-Glider, but as they flee are shot out the sky by one of Black Mask’s cronies and crash into an abandoned building.

Another Bat-Imitator kills the goons before they could nail Grayson. Whom I’m claiming it to be Jason Todd cause The Red Hood uses guns. Good start for the series. Can’t wait to read the next issue.
