Watchmen Postponed Indefinitely?

Filming wrapped, effects added, marketing campaign entering full swing, comic re-released, merchandise abound, Watchmen was ready and rearing to go.
And just when the fan base was gearing up this March for what Kevin Smith called “Fucking astounding”, everything went to hell. COURTS RULED WARNER BROTHERS DOESN’T OWN THE RIGHTS! Yes, my friends, in a shocking court decision, the judge favored Fox Studios in a custody battle with Warner. Now as I understand it, there had already been some claims battles between WB and Paramount, but the giants came to an agreement where in WB and Legendary would make the film and Paramount distribute. Well now it seems all three studios are shafted as Fox claims the intellectual property. However, they have no claims to the movie itself, since that was all funded on WB’s buck.
So what happens now? Fox can try and buy the property and sell it on their own (which they would have to pay quite a bit considering all the publicity and what not WB and Legendary put in, not to mention footing the bill for the production itself). More likely, Fox will strike a deal with WB, Legendary and Paramount to accidentally make the first 4-way studio venture in history hehe. Or just as likely, Watchmen will be held up indefinitely and will never see the light of day, destined to be leaked online by some vengeful employee and enjoyed on OVGuide.
On the bright side, at least this is one controversy Alan Moore won’t be dragged into. Glycon help us…
