Phantom Reboot in the Future?

The Associated Press says that The Ghost Who Walks is getting another film treatment.

The latest adaptation, which is expected to cost $87 million, will focus on “the Father/Son relationship, and what it means to be The Phantom,” scriptwriter Tim Boyle said in a statement. “The film will be set in the present day and will deal with the concept of destiny.”

This was another childhood favorite, but Kabai Sengh aka Shang Tsung as The Great Kabai Sengh was the better villain then the over the top tycoon, Xander Drax (played by Treat Williams). It also showcased (even though she played a femme fatale that went good for some unknown reason) Catherine Zeta Jones’ capability to play Wonder Woman (if I haven’t said before) was another missed opportunity (like some many others).

The story sounds decent. An aspect of the character that fascinated me were the descendents was underused in the original, which carried into the Phantom 2040 cartoon series. So I’ll keep an eye on this as it develops.
