“Toxic” Review

Since this week’s show is the Iron Man commentary, here’s the review for last night’s Smallville.
Initially, it was an alright episode for being an Oliver Queen centric, but it’s subplot still involved Clark. The origin story shown on screen in segments was alright, him finding out Lionel killed his parents at the end connects the dots to “Traveler” and “Veritas” well.
Brainiac’s effect starts to gear up Chloe. Glad Clark picked up on it right away, as opposed to him finding out later in the season. What I think the outcome of Chloe’s death will be, Lois will shut Clark out, turn into the full independent career woman, and the Clark / Jimmy friendship will start to form.
Ollie called the boss of The Planet and Luthorcorp in his unconscious state, Mercy. Because (let’s face the fact) her characteristics were definitely more Mercy Graves then Ms. Tessmacher.
Davis mingling with Chloe, implies more that he’s gathering up information to report back to Mercy for taps. Her delivering the killing blow was awesome, with the evidence being destroyed. Just like a Luthor.I was a bit confused on her being there in the flashbacks because it seemed to me that she was manipulating Oliver, implying that she orchestrated the kidnapping or had her own agenda, but then it looked like she didn’t.
Lois is still a bit of brat by basically saying Ollie’s not the perfect hero or “filled the deal” as she put it (well so is the man your destined to be with, sister), ease off. If she is going to keep showing up whenever Oliver has entered the fray in the remainder of the season, this relationship has been dragged on too long (Clana not withstanding).
No links to The Oliver Queen Cronicles as I thought, so there’s a plothole. Mercy’s not that much of an expert fighter in this incarnation. Like last week’s episode, the climax was bad. There’s no way that heavy piece of machinary on the phone poles could possilbly swing down in the accurate position to knock the pirate out. A blanent stage rig.
Ollie ripping into Clark about being a coward was a bit of a stretch, but I take as the booze talking. BIG CONTINUITY ERROR. After the pirate shoots the hostage in the head, the next time we go back to the flashback, the bullet wound is on her stomach. What the hell?
Rating: 6 1/2
But I’ve got a feeling the show is starting drop again. Next week looks very interesting, Maxima, the future Warrior Queen comes to town.
At the end of the preview, it looked like she punched Lois’ head off her neck.
